Understanding Windows Task Manager

Have we ever wonder why our PC hangs and works slowly? Yes, I observed it most these past few days. I thought that someone from behind my computer is trying to manipulate what I'm doing. It's really annoying specially when you want to finished something in the process. I'm almost bothered when this occurs since I know my computer doesn't act like this in the previous month.

My anti-virus never stop detecting malwares and Trojans. I had to delete all the virus detected from time to time to avoid it from spreading. I guess some of files are already infected by worms or Trojans which may seem undetected.

I already formatted my drive twice and freshly installed windows. But I still got the same thing. Maybe those virus are already resided with some of my installers in one of the drive attached as slave. Or, it may have been in the programs alone.

Windows Task Manager is a task manager application included with the Microsoft Windows Operating Systems that provides detailed information about computer performance and running applications, processes and CPU usage, commit charge and memory information, network activity and statistics, logged-in users and system services.

Windows Task Manager is a great help in identifying some of the malicious activities in our computer system. It will show how the CPU works. Just pressed CTRL+ALT+DEL to let task manager appear. I've noticed some uncommon files written in capital letters (like the one highlighted in the image) while the rest are in small letters. Examples of these are IEPLORE.EXE, E_FATIAIP.EXE, RTHDCPL.EXE and E_S40RP7.EXE are uncommon things which I supposed are malwares.

It is said that task manager is a common target of computer viruses and other form of malwares. So I deleted those I've seen in capital letters. While deleting it one by one, I'm observing the behavior of my computer at the same time if it really affect those program running. But sadly, deleting helps only a little and there's still something in the programs the keeps working why I still experience lagging.

So I downloaded a free software (Trial version) that can detect malwares and removed them. With the help of Malwarebytes, I found 56 malwares in total which prevent my computer from working smoothly as seen in the image(right).

Great! Now my computer is back to normal but several programs are not working which means they were the cause of the problem. I don't mind losing them as I may reinstall them again using a clean copy.

Slow Internet Connection?

Few days ago, I experienced so much trouble with my internet connection. I've been a subscriber of smart Bro for 7 years now. The past years, I've fully enjoyed their service and the speed it offers. There seems no problem at all in the beginning but as years go by, I encountered slow connection as well as on and off connection. I'm frustrated and not satisfied anymore but opted to continue my subscription because other internet providers are more worse than this like Globe, W-Tribe, Bayantel etc., the way I heard from different subscribers. I don't have any other choice but to wait for the better one (sad).

In fact, I never asked for a rebates on the monthly bill for the unused hours or days lost during the service. I never complained much as I want to, for I assume that they are monitoring on it. And I know that they are committed to providing better internet service. And I pay for it and expect good service in return.

Yesterday, I made an authorization letter for my wife to avail of retention Plan 749 available for the old subscribers who are outside the lock-in period. Meaning, they are giving these as a rebate for continues patronage of their service. Therefore, I will be paying P749 next month instead of P999 pesos monthly. This is surely a rebates! I'm Glad it was approved.

Few reasons I found out why slow connection occurs (I'm not talking to one providers alone but to all of them).
  1. An exceeding number of subscribers in each base. If a certain base exceeded in numbers, of which the total speed is divided among them, then a slow connection occurs. Consider those who owns an internet cafe with a lot of units.
  2. Incorrect position of the unit or they call as Canopy.
  3. Weak Signal.
  4. Poor location of the subscribers.
  5. Defective unit either the canopy, router or LAN card.
Still, I'm hoping for a better internet service that will satisfy the demand of some internet users.
