Kbdus.dll Error Not Solved

A friend asked me to install MS Office 2007. He had a 2003 version installed but not working so we tried to upgrade the said version. While in the process of upgrading, the computer suddenly restart and the upgrade did not work. So we decided to remove the 2003 version to fresh install 2007 but the problem worsen. We could not install anymore. And I thought there might something bad with either the hard disk, the memory, the processor, the board, the BIOS or a virus keeps the computer restart/shutdown when performing an installation.

Troubleshooting seems the hardest part whenever a computer got a problem. The worse if it is uncommon  which will take a lot of effort to resolve. It does not only takes an hour or a day and you might end up wasting a lot of time. That's how bad it be.

When you hear a single beep sound a computer boots normally it means the board is in good condition together with the processor and the memory. And so I thought the hard disk is the problem. To check, I tried the hard disk to another computer , formatted and installed fresh copy of Windows XP and it works. So there's no problem regarding the HDD. But, when I put it back again to its original case (hoping it will work) - it won't work. Right there, I decided to format it again and try installing windows but an error occurred of which it say's "Setup cannot load the keyboard layout kbdus.dll". Microsoft suggested two ways to resolve it but did not help.

I attempted many times to format the hard disk but I failed. I don't think there's an issue with the CD installer and CD ROM. So I guess, I got a serious issue with that keyboard error and need learn more about it.

How to solve kbus.dll error?

Let's make an experimentation. What about swapping a hard disk drive from another computer that completely work when the other don't work around? It sounds good and I guess it will work since I've done it several times before.

So, I used another hard disk from another computer which had everything installed in it. I fired the computer on and finally, It work! After the windows open, it proceeded to update any hardware drivers and no need to install MS 2007 already since it was included there.

As a reminder, this post did work for me and I hope will work with you too. But I understand also, that it may not work with others due to differences in motherboard specifications or model.

Still Have Trouble With Your Personal Computer?

If you're done with disk cleanup, disk defragmenter, and RegSeeker but still had problem regarding slow performance of your PC, you might still have a problem or you need to upgrade your PC. But this time, I want to share about the need for an anti-virus. Mine is just a free version. Although free version is limited only with few features, it doesn't matter! What is important is to download and install an anti-virus that work effectively against viruses.

Anti-virus softwares is an effective guard against any computer viruses, trojans, worms, malicious programs, and so on. But the fact is, free version can only detect a limited number or types of virus. However, you can buy a license to be totally protected. Because I can't afford to buy a licensed one, I just keep clinging on the free one. I ensure that my PC is working properly by scanning for viruses 2-3 times a month. At least, I know whether I'm am attacked or not. Once you have installed an anti-virus, always keep it updated. As a rule, keep it active too. Just google it, Download and install it in C: drive, under program files which is the default destination. Click screenshot.

In the screenshot, I've shown you already the kind of anti-virus I'm using. Yes, it is an Avira anti-virus. I've been using this since 2 years. So far, I got no problem using this free software. Anyway, if you just use your computer for personal only, then this is enough. And it depends on you if you want another beside Avira. Just fine.

For me, Avira is tough and truly detects removable devices and hard disk for certain viruses. It is easy to use. It normally ask you to confirm your action whether to quarantine, repair, ignore or delete a certain programs found to be a virus. So, you might decide base upon your knowledge of certain files or programs found in your system. If you're unsure about an action, just quarantine such files found and decide later.

Keeping Our Personal Computer's Performance Through Disk Cleanup and Defragmenter

Here are several ways on how to maintain our computers at its performance level. These are simple yet effective way to speed up our PC. These simple ways are sometimes disregarded or some of us are not familiar on how to use it.

Figure 1.
Click ---- Start, then Programs, Then Accessories, Then System Tools, then Disk Cleanup or Disk Defragmenter

Figure 2
First Alternative : Clicking the disk cleanup icon will display the disk cleanup window. Wait until it finish reading the data.

Figure 3

Figure 4
After finish reading the data, a new window will appear (see Figure 3 and 4) displaying the folders to be clean. Click ok if you decide to clean those checked boxes.
Figure 5
Second Alternative : Clicking the Disk Defragmenter icon will display the defragmenter window. Be sure to have at least 15% of hard disk space to proceed. Else, free some space by unstalling unnecessary programs.
Figure 6
A comparison is shown before a defragmentation. Click Defrag to proceed.

Defragmentation is essential in computer's daily performance. You can do it 2-3 times a week or as may seems necessary. It helps especially those who loves to download files in the internet.

I hope this will help anyone to speed up their computer's performance. Otherwise, a virus is preventing our pc from doing so.

Joy Dishwashing Liquid?

I'm just wondering if this product is really effective in cleaning defective computer peripherals or other electronics appliances since there is a forums out there talking about joy as a cleaning agent.

I haven't tried it though, yet some say it is effective in cleaning motherboard, HDD, and others.

However, there might be possibilities. I thought to try it one day with one of my defective motherboard and memory.

Brontok Worms Removal

My client's personal computer was brought to me for check-up and repair. He said that whenever he attempts to open it, it automatically restarts. I have encountered this situation before and so I suspected that it is infected by a virus but not the same virus I encountered before. I've tried first to disk clean up the HDD to recover some space. I found out that the HDD has little amount of free spaces which is much less than the required amount of disk space. Take note that in order for a HDD to work properly  we must maintain at least 15% of free HDD space. Otherwise, we can expect a slow performance and sometimes hang up. During defragmentation also, we also need 15% of free space to allow the procedure. I got tired of doing trial and error, so I decided to apply combofix to remove the viruses and those files infected.

After I applied combofix, for over 10 minutes, I was able to recover 35% of free spaces compared from the previous which is only 9%. or a total of 45% after combofix. Combofix did find the virus identified as Brontok. The Brontok worms have almost eaten up the free spaces that is why the computer suddenly restarts due also to bad registy. Combofix restored the registry and those hidden files which was unaccessible prior to applying combofix. Then I started again to disk clean up and defragmenting the HDD.

The Brontok worm is a virus originated from Indonesia which is an attachments to an e-mail named Kangen.exe. Kangen means I miss you so much. The Brontok is also known with other names.

The PC is back to normal. It works smoothly.

Tips:
  1. Study and learn about viruses and its behavior.
  2. Never open an email if it is from an unknown source.
  3. Maintain the required amount of HDD space which is 15% of the total HDD capacity.
  4. Apply Disk clean up and Defragmentation once or as needed.
  5. Never forget combofix, it's effective!

The Benefit of Combofix

The performance of our computers depends on how we used them. It doesn't matter whether it's made up by best manufacturer or not. On a daily basis, we tend to forget that it also needs maintenance. We also need to give it a time to cool down.

Keeping our computers in tune will make it perform better. Let us put in mind that it's performance depends on how we gonna use it from day to day. We should also consider installing compatible programs so that it may not conflict with others.

We should maintain monthly disk clean up or defragmentation depending on the situation. But in one way or another, there is time when our computer become idle or getting slower after a few hours. Though we think that we have performed the basic computer maintenance, yet it works so slow, then there is a problem. Sometimes you have to analyzed for a certain moments what went wrong or what have you done  in the past few days. Viruses may even come from USB devices such as memories and mp4 and the likes. It may also be the result of reading some unknown emails. Or, an unknown programs was downloaded and installed. Not all circumstances are the same so make sure you have the best antivirus that will work effectively. Antivirus will prevent those from infecting you pc. Notwithstanding, there are viruses that will not be filtered by some antivirus.

Nowadays, virus and malwares severely attack our computer and cause it to slow down. These prevents us from doing better. We become frustrated and stressed. We become tired and feeling bad. So, it is important to have knowledge on how are we going to prevent and remove virus and malwares if it become infected.

I have already encountered several viruses and it was really annoying. In fact, Some virus will use to hide some important files. When I discern that a virus is preventing my computer from performing well, noticeably occurring so many times, then I will download and install combofix. It will restore some missing files and delete detected threats then restore hidden files as well. You can do it by yourself and its easy to use. Just follow the step by step instructions and nothing else. You can download it free from several sites.

I really enjoy the benefit of combofix and so I will also recommend it to others.

Keyboard Error Or No Keyboard Present

One of my neighbor has brought in her CPU for a check-up. I asked her what happened before she bring it to me but she doesn't have time to tell me something except for the boot error she encounter during POST.

So, i proceeded to check her CPU. I put the power on, then listen to any abnormal behavior and the error appears on the post. This means that I have to opened the case and see further if all peripherals are in order. I suspected that it may be the HDD or the IDE cable itself that went wrong or, maybe the Motherboard. I first checked the IDE cable by trying an extra one I have. It opened! I let it opened for a few hours to see if will work normally. After a couple of hours, I decide to put it off and clean the dust inside it using the clean paint brush. But then when I opened it again, only CD-ROM is detected but not the HDD. I began to doubt and so I tried to repair the HDD using the HDD Regenerator. Keyboard error exist when I tried to interrupt the regeneration process for almost 7 hours. It was detecting the bad sectors at that moment which it finds almost 19,556 bad sectors, when i suddenly cancelled the process because I'm getting tired already. I regretted by doing so.

Now, everytime I opened the CPU, the error is there. I could not even proceed to configure the BIOS due to that keyboard error. I could not press F1 or Del to go to Bios setup. What should I do? If I tried to make an attempt by pressing F1 nor Del a beep sounds appear 3 times. Would it be that the motherboard is bad? I tried to plug and unplug the keyboard but nothing happened. And the moment I tried also to reset the bios or remove the battery additional error appeared. What went wrong?

I would like to hear comments and suggestions.
